Govt declares 7 VDCs in Jhapa, Sunsari 'bird flu affected zone'

KATHMANDU, March 12: The government has declared five village development committees (VDC) of Jhapa district and a VDC of Sunsari district as ´bird flu affected zone´.



A cabinet meeting held on Monday evening declared Pathamari, Kumarkhod, Arjundhara, Charpane and Taganduba VDCs of Jhapa district and Narsingh Tappu of Sunsari district as bird flu affected zones. [break]



“The Ministry of Agriculture will work effectively to control bird flu in the affected areas,” said Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hridayesh Tripathi after the cabinet meeting.



Meanwhile, the cabinet appointed Pramod Mehata as Vice-chairman, Kunj Bihari Chaudhari as Treasurer and Rabindra Kumar Rai as Member Secretary of Social Welfare Council.



Similarly, the cabinet meeting appointed Urmila Devi Bishwakarma, Manu Humagain KC and Dhaneshwari Kumari Chaudhari as members of National Women´s Commission.
