The wild tuskers reside in Kerabari forest in western Bengal of bordering India during daytime and rein in the villages of Jhapa through eastern VDC Bahundangi in the evening.[break]
A 17-kilometre of electric fence constructed along the Bahundangi VDC at the cost of Rs. 15 million to prevent the elephants from entering the villages has been in the state of bad affairs.
´Wire has been snapped in various areas and poles have also been in broken state´, said Secretary of Wire Fence Users Group formed for the prevention of elephants, Niraj Ghimire, adding that the elephant rampage is on in the area when no sides concerned have shown interest for the necessary maintenance.
