The district committee meeting took a nasty turn after some leaders accused party´s deputy district in-charge Rana Bahadur Kunwar of embezzling some Rs 1.2 million received by the party as "donations".[break]
Local leaders Dal Bahadur Dhami, Gauridatta Joshi, Arjun Rana, Renu Chand and Ishwari Bhatta were injured in the fracas.
During the meeting, Kunwar, who is also a CA member, attacked Joshi with a knife, eyewitnesses said.
The clash lasted for 30 minutes. Sources said the dispute over the embezzlement heated up after Kunwar verbally abused CA member Chand.
Joshi, who received a knife cut in his left eye, is receiving treatment at the district hospital. The other three have sustained minor injuries.
Injured Joshi refused to comment on the issue.
The leaders had immediately raised the issue of embezzlement and Joshi had demanded that he immediately return the money to the party.
Earlier the party had decided that the money should be deposited in the party´s bank account, no matter whoever misused it.
The party state committee in-charge Dharmendra Bastola and Seti-Mahakali office in-charge Gokul Khanal were present when the clash took place.
