KATHMANDU, April 8: A cabinet meeting on Friday promoted additional four deputy inspector generals (DIG) of Nepal Police to the post of additional inspector general (AIG) following 18-month-old Supreme Court order to promote them to the higher post of Nepal Police.

In September 2014, the apex court had ordered ordered the government to promote them responding to two separate petitions which challenged the August 14 promotion of nine DIGs to AIG post. The cabinet meeting decided to promote DIGs Yadav Adhikari, Bishwaraj Shahi, Parshuram Khatri and Sushil Bar Singh Thapa. They move the court claiming that they were deprived of their right to be promoted despite that they were equally eligible for the promotion.
