The policemen sustained injuries when they tried to disperse clash between the two groups who fought inside a police beat while talks to resolve the dispute between the two sides were underway on Monday, said Assistant Sub-Inspector Sitaram Baral.[break]
The injured policemen are Harichandra Kaila, Bheshraj KC, Pitambar Khanal and Birendra Thalal. Kaila is undergoing treatment at the district hospital while other three injured are receiving medication at local health posts.
The locals injured during the clash include Dal Bahadur Pariyar and Ram Bahadur Rawat. Those involved in the brawl threw signboard of the police beat and barbed wires put around the beat.
Police detained 12 people from both the sides on the charge of involvement in vandalism. District Police Office had to deploy additional police personnel as a team of only nine policemen at the local police beat couldn´t take the situation under control.
DSP Surendra Bahadur Gurung said investigation into the arrested is on.
Meanwhile, six cadres of the Tarun Dal, the youth organization of Nepali Congress, were injured during a clash with cadres of Youth Force, CPN-UML youth organization, in Mugu district. They clashed after a dispute between the two sides took a nasty turn during a volleyball match at Natharpu VDC. Those injured during the fight are Manjan Shahi, Bihani Shahi, Tek Bahadur Malla and Sarjan Shahi. The injured are undergoing treatment. Police are searching for those involved in the clash.
