4 arrested with stolen motorcycles

KATHMANDU, April 8: The traffic police claims to have busted a gang of motorcycle thieves who were involved in stealing two-wheelers from different parts of the Kathmandu Valley.



Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has arrested four persons and recovered 10 motorcycles reported as lost since 2008 from them.[break]



Those arrested have been identified as Rajendra Tamang, 25, a resident of Agra-6, Makawanpur, Rakesh aka Nikesh Lama, 25, of Dadakharka-9, Dolakha, Harikrishna Shrestha, 27, of Purano Gaun-1, Kavre and Akoj KC, 29, a resident of Daman-6, Makawanpur.



According to the MTPD Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pawan Kumar Giri, all of the two-wheelers lost from the capital were recovered from Makwanpur on Saturday.



The motorbikes that were reported as stolen from Balkhu (BA 50 PA 674), Gongabu (BA 42 PA 8414), Dhobighat (BA 46 PA 7756), Baneshwar (BA 29 PA 8177), Ghattekulo (BA 4 PA 7433) and Chabahil (BA 44 PA 9967) were recovered from Galchhi, Gairigaun and Palung by the traffic police team deployed from Kathmandu.



The traffic police have said that the accused had changed the number plates of the stolen motorbikes. The accused have been sent to Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka for further investigation.



Similarly, the traffic police also found three unclaimed Pulsar motorcycles (BA 24 PA 1162, BA 47 PA 7515 and BA 34 PA 4120) from Makwanpur. The traffic police are hopeful to find more lost motorcycles after busting the gang, said DSP Giri. The traffic police have urged the motorcycle owners to contact them to claim their vehicles.
