3rd Bangladesh Expo kicks off

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The 3rd Bangladesh Expo-2017 kicked off in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

Minister for Supplies Deepak Bohara and Mashfee Binte Shams, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, jointly inaugurated the single country trade fair. The expo, which is being held at Bhrukuti Mandap Exhibition Hall, will continue till Saturday.

The expo is showcasing building and construction materials, readymade garment (RMG), plastic products, cosmetics, ceramics/tiles, jute and jute products, leather products, textiles, footwear, electronics items, handicrafts, generators /machineries and processed food among other products. Similarly, IT firms and education institutions are also participating in the event. Products like batteries, cement, bathroom fittings, two-wheelers, home appliances, jewelries, among others, are also being exhibited at the fair.  

According to the Bangladeshi embassy in Kathmandu, which is organizing the fair, the event is expected to create a platform for exchange of information and ideas, and provide an opportunity for entrepreneurs of the two countries to explore B-2-B linkages for harnessing the available synergies in the areas of trade and business. 

The expo has also invited some selected Nepali exporters to showcase their products with a view to promoting Nepali exports to Bangladesh.  

Commerce Secretary Naindra Prasad Upadhaya, Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) President Hari Bhakta Sharma, Nepal Chambers of Commerce President Rajesh Kazi Shrestha, Senior Vice President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Bhawani Rana were also present in the inaugural session.
