Sunsari shut down in protest of students' arrest

ITAHARI, Jan 20: Various students unions shut down Sunsari district on Friday demanding release of the arrested students.



Normal life is crippled due to the strike as transportation services came to a grinding halt.



Police had arrested five students of Janata College for vandalizing hotels and lodge in the course of protest against the recent price hike on petroleum products.



Those arrested were GV Gajal, Dhurva Adhikari, Bhesraj Thapa, Pradip Subedi and Iswor Kafle.



The hotel owners have demanded compensation for the damages.



They have warned of strike if the students are released before compensating them.
