KAPILVASTU, April 2: The construction works of two irrigation projects in Kapilvastu Municipality in Kapilvastu district have been started at once.
Construction works of the Lamtiya Irrigation Project and Dohani Irrigation Project in the municipality were started with around Rs 180 million plus costs to provide irrigation facility in 1000 hectares of land.
According to Irrigation Division, the cost of Lamtiya Irrigation Project is Rs 87.4 million while the investment of Dohani Irrigation Project is Rs 99.1 million.
Former state minister for irrigation Surendra Raj Acharya laid foundation of the projects and said that the two projects would immensely benefit the farmers.
The projects are likely to complete by September 2019. Under the Lamtiya Irrigation Project, five canals would be constructed to irrigate 300 hectares of land, Chief of Irrigation Division Rajendra Mahato said.
Similarly, the Dohani Irrigation Project would irrigate 700 hectares of land in the district. Water from Jamuhar river would be supplied for both the irrigation project. RSS
