The 19-year-old food technology student from Balaju answered the chief judge’s question, on her message to the citizens of Nepal, saying, “We need to rise and fight and make Nepal a symbol of peace and prosperity.”[break]
Astha was also declared Miss Personality.
Excited about her win Astha aims at utilizing her position to contribute to the overall development of society. “This win is a platform for me, I wish to contribute especially to the sector of climate change,” she said talking to Republica.
Astha, upon winning the crown, has been appointed as the National Green Ambassador for KJC.

Thousands of viewers from all over the country witnessed her crowning live through Himalayan Television, the official television for the show.
The contest, which is in its 10th year, saw girls between 16 to 19 competing for the title. The auditions held on December 11 shortlisted the finalists, who were further trained by Kunchang Moktan, the 2009 Miss Nepal second runner-up, at a 16-day camp.

Seventeen-year-old Paridhi Sharma from Shantinagar, Kathmandu was declared the first runner-up, while the second runner-up title went to Shristi Saud, 18 from Baneshwar.
Paridhi also won the Miss Talent and Miss Popular titles. She bagged the talent award for her rendition of Phoolko Ankhama, a song by Ani Choying Drolma.
Pradeep Man Vaidya, CEO of Century Bank, Narayan Puri, CEO of Himalayan Television, Akhil Chapagain, president of Nepal-Turkey Chamber of Commerce, Miss Nepal 2011 Malina Joshi and Lily Thapa, associate professor of Tribhuwan University and founder president of Women for Human Rights, were the judges for the evening.
