KATHMANDU, July 21: The Trade and Export Promotion Center (TEPC) has nominated 38 traders and business organizations for Commercially Important Person (CIP) Award.
The CIP Award is conferred by the government on traders and business organizations making outstanding contribution to the economy.
The TEPC announced the names of 38 exporters, importers, investors, employers, entrepreneurs and business organizations, issuing a public notice on July 16. It has given two-weeks to individuals and firms to file complaints against the nominees.
According to TEPC, CIP status is being conferred in 17 different categories -- largest exporters/industrialists based on goods exported to third countries, two exporters/ industrialists based on their export to India, largest exporters of handicraft, top exporters to China, largest women exporter/entrepreneur, largest exporter of software products, largest importers of Nepali goods in third world countries, largest employer, largest income tax paying entrepreneur, largest investor in manufacturing industry, and largest income tax paying entrepreneur, among others.
Ncell Nepal, Shivam Cements, IME Ltd, Dabur Nepal Pvt Ltd, Dabur India Ltd, Taragaon Regency Hotel Ltd, Yeti Travels Pvt Ltd, Leather Derma Societa'a Responsabilitia Limitata of Italy, Wollen Carpet-Tamarian Carpets Inc of USA, Verisk Information Technology (Hattisar), Fashion Craft Pvt Ltd (Samakhusi), Aarti Strips Pvt Ltd (Morang), Asian Leather Industries Pvt Ltd (Biratnagar), among others have been recommended for CIP status.
Similarly, the government has also decided to confer CIP status on presidents of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) in recognition of their contribution to economic development through different promotional activities related to export and commercial issues.
TEPC said that the nominees for CIP status have been shortlisted as per the 'CIP Selection, Honor and Privilege Procedure -2069.'
