Manose Singh, a former member of the Nepali Music Band 1974 AD and flute player, has become the first Nepali musician to be nominated for prestigious award-- Grammy Award. He has been nominated for 'Best New Age Album of The Year’ under Contemporary Instrumental Music Category from his contribution track on the album ‘Deva’.
On November 20, Singh took his Facebook account and informed about being nominated in Grammy 2020. He wrote, “And the Grammy goes to... This morning beloved Deva and Miten called me and gave me some surprise news ....We have been nominated for a Grammy! Amazing news for all of us. Thank you!! In my deep heart I always feel the music we share needs no validation but at same time it’s excited to hear! Thanks again beloveds. And the Grammy goes to....YOU #Grammy#Deva#Love#

After that the news spread like wildfire in social media, several renowned personalities congratulated Singh. Nepali Congress Central Member Gagan Kumar Thapa is among them, who twitted, “ Congratulations Manose Singh for being nominated in the Grammy Awards for 'Best New Age Album of The Year' category for contemporary instrumental music. It's great to see Nepali artists reaching Global Stages. Best wishes to Manose! #PositiveNepal.”
Likewise, Abhaya Subba—front woman of Abhaya and the Steam Engines also congratulated Singh through her Facebook account. She wrote, “The first Nepali to be nominated for a Grammy...( I always thought it would be me) but super super proud and happy for Manose Singh. He deserves all the accolades.”
The 62nd edition of the Grammy Awards is scheduled to be held in Los Angeles on January 27.
