Pukar Gahatraj found the target for Church Boys. Katuwal gave a 13th minute lead to Sainik but Gahatraj of Church Boys found the equalizer in the 26th minute. Sainik hit the decider in the stoppage time through Lingden to send Church Boys packing.
The final of the tournament, organized by Surunga Jaycees at Surunga Higher Secondary School Ground, will be held on Friday.
Computer training for chief coaches
KATHMANDU: Nepal Sports Foundation, which is affiliated to the National Sports Council, on Wednesday announced that would conduct computer training for the chief coaches of different sports. The training is aimed at providing computer knowledge to the coaches. During the two-week training, the trainees will be given basic knowledge about computer and internet.
Knight Chess into final
UDAYAPUR: Knight Chess Club of Jhapa on Wednesday defeated Workers Martyrs Memorial Club of Kathmandu 2-0 to advance into the final of Udayapur Gold Cup Football Tournament being held in Gaighat. Karna Limbu and Dipak Rai scored one each during second half to steer Knight Chess towards final.
Limbu put Knight Chess ahead ten minutes into second half while Rai doubled the tally in the 68th minute to ensure the victory of Knight Chess. Workers Martyrs Memorial Club players failed to find the back of the net despite frequent attempts. Bishal Rai of the Knight Chess was awarded the man-of-the-match.
Open archery begins Thursday
KATHMANDU: Nepal-Japan Contact Committee is organizing the Open Archery Tournament at Balaju, Kathmandu from Thursday. Altogether 77 male players from 11 teams will participate in the five-day long event. The tournament will feature matches in individual and team category. The top three teams in the team event will bag Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Jagriti Club triumph
ITAHARI: Jagriti Club of Itahari on Wednesday defeated host Rajabasa Youth Club of Prakashpur 4-3 in tiebreaker in the Third Eastern Regional Rajabasa Challenge Cup Football Tournament being held in Prakashpur, Sunsari. The fate of the winner was decided through tiebreaker after the 80-minute match ended in 2-2 draw and additional time finished in goalless draw. Dipesh Thapamagar, Binin Rai, Bhola Rai and Rajiv Gurung converted for Jagriti in the shootout while Suman Tamang, Roney Bista and Santosh Limbu only converted their spotkicks for host. Roney Bista of the host was declared the man-of-the-match. The winner and the runner up of the tournament participated by eight teams of eastern region will bag a purse of Rs 40,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
Int´l Gojurio Karate in Dhangadi
DHANGADI: The Third International Gojurio Karate Tournament will be held from November 2-4 in Dhangadi. The thre day long tournament will feature 350 players from six South Asian nations. This is the third time the Far Western Regional Gojurio Karate Do Association is hosting international level karate tournament on its own initiative.
According to Prakash Chand, general secretary of the Far Western Regional Gojurio Karate Do Association, players from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Bhutan will compete in the event.
"We hope that the event will be helpful in conducting the Sixth National Games successfully in the Far Western Region and also help boost the morale of the players of this region," Chand said. The expected cost of the event is Rs 1.1 million and the organizers have expected to raise the amount from sponsors and donations.
