According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), a woman aged 37 of Gaidakot VDC of Chitwan died in the course of treatment in Bharatpur hospital. The woman had been admitted to the hospital in August after suffering from hemorrhagic fever.
EDCD said most of the dengue fever cases were reported in Chitwan.
“Fifty- five cases of dengue fever have been reported in Chitwan this year,” an officer at EDCD said, adding that other cases were reported in Makwanpur, Nawalparasi, Banke, Rupendehi and Arghakhachi.
“We have adopted different measures to curb the spread of the disease in districts under high risk,” an officer at EDCD, Dr Yedu Chandra Ghimire said, adding, “Special awareness campaign had also been organized in seven districts of the Tarai region.”
The EDCD has organized special campaign in Rupendehi, Nawalparasi, Chitwan, Parsa, Kailali, Kanchanpur and Banke with assistance from World Health Organization.
“District health offices (DHO) are still continuing post monsoon awareness program in the Tarai districts,” said Ghimire. He said search and destroy operation has also been organized. “Health workers, teachers, students, female health volunteers were mobilized for the campaign.”
