KATHMANDU, Feb 14: Departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) has clinched the first Mayor Cup International Invitational Women’s Volleyball title defeating Shivam New Diamond Academy (NDA) on straight sets of 3-0 on Tuesday.
At Patihani in Chitwan, APF won the first set with a close battle of 29-27, while it easily got past NDA 25-16 in the second.
After winning the first two sets and reaching a commanding position, APF defeated NDA 25-21 in the third set to win the tournament.
With the win, the departmental team took home a cash prize of Rs 200,000, while the runner-up NDA was rewarded with Rs 100,000.
Likewise, the other departmental team Nepal Police Club (NPC) won the third-placed playoff defeating Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) on straight sets of 25-16, 25-19, 25-20.
NPC was prized with Rs 50,000, while TAC got Rs 25,000.
APF’s Saraswati Chaudhary was named the best player of the tournament and was rewarded with Rs 10,000.
Likewise, NDA’s Pratibha Mali and Kripa Adhikari were named the best spiker and the best server respectively.
Also, NPC’s Kamala Pun, APF’s Usha Bista, Manisha Tamang and TAC’s Nikita Thagunna were the best setter, the best blocker, the best defender and the emerging talent of the tournament respectively.
All the winners got Rs 5,000 each.
