CIAA to probe 'blood money' payment

KATHMANDU, Oct 14: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has said it will begin probe against Joint Secretary Nagendra Jha´s alleged involvement in providing Rs 8,00000 as blood money Tuesday to the family of Kashinath Tiwari. Tiwari was killed by the Maoists a year ago in Birgunj.



"We have taken the matter seriously and will initiate thorough investigation immediately after receiving complaints from the victim´s family," said a CIAA source.[break]



Jha was the chief district officer at Parsa district when Tiwari was shot dead there one year ago. According to family members, Jha repeatedly phoned Tiwari´s family members after the district police of Parsa filed murder charge against Minister Prabhu Sah and his aides.



"We need a formal complaint to begin investigation and we are awaiting the same," said the commission source, adding, "We will leave no stone unturned to take action against those found guilty in our investigation."
