Minister inaugurates cycle rally on Env Day

KATHMANDU, Sept 17: Environment Minister Hemraj Tatendra inaugurated the cycle rally organized to mark the World Environment Day in Basantapur on Saturday.



As many as 50 cyclists including widely acclaimed cyclist Pushkar Shah are attending the rally jointly organized by World Tour Campaign Coordination Committee and Tourism Journalists’ Association Nepal with the objective of creating massive public awareness towards protecting environment and promoting tourism. Also present in the rally are Rajendra Sapkota and Rupak Khadka, who have recently accomplished the SAARC cycle tour.



The cycle rally will be concluded with cultural programme after reaching Bhaktapur.



On the occasion, the Minister said the government will move ahead in coordination with social organizations for the protection of environment, which has surfaced as a key challenge of the contemporary society.



Programme Coordinator Devi Panta pledged to give continuity to such campaign for the protection of environment and national heritages.
