The cabinet meeting on Friday decided to transfer Paudyal despite the prime minister´s commitment not to transfer secretaries for at least a month.[break]
Gachchhadar claimed he is hopeful that the appointment of Sushil Jung Rana as home secretary would help the ministry deliver effective services.
“We appointed a new secretary keeping in mind the sensitivity of home affairs. There is no ulterior motive behind the move,” he told reporters upon his arrival at Biratnagar airport on Saturday. “I am quite confident that he (Rana) would deliver better results as he is an experienced bureaucrat.”
Stating that the transfer of SSPs and inspectors was long due, he also informed that the ministry is busy setting criteria for the purpose. “We will transfer SSPs and inspectors on the basis of set criteria,” he said
Police working to arrest Parshuram
The home minister said the police would leave no stone unturned in arresting Parshuram Basnet, the mastermind behind the attack on Biratnagar-based journalist Khilanath Dhakal. He said the police was actively working to nab Basnet, who is also a district leader of CPN-UML youth wing.
Hundreds of party cadres greeted him at the airport as the Chairman of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Democratic arrived in his hometown after he became deputy prime minister and home minister.
Also, all the security officials stationed in Morang and Sunsari districts had arrived at the Biratnagar airport to welcome him.
