Dr KC to remain in custody, hearing on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Detained orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC will remain in detention as the hearing of the case of contempt against him did not start on Tuesday.

The hearing at the joint session court of Justices Om Prakash Mishra and Kedar Prasad Chalise was supposed to start after the recording of the statement of Dr Kc. However, citing lack of time, the hearing did not commence and is scheduled for Wednesday.  

While recording his statement while being presented at the bench earlier on the day, Dr KC had said that the investigation should be conducted against Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli for missing SLC certificate and alteration of date of birth among others.

Dr KC will be kept in detention at Metropolitan Police Circle Office, Singha Durbar on Tuesday as well. Following the order of the apex court on Monday Dr KC was held from the premises of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, where he had started a hunger strike demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli among others.
