Lama had accused UML and its sister organization of planning to attack him and sought police protection on Sunday. Nepal Police personnel have been providing security to Lama and NSC office at Tripureshwar.
YAN and the confederation have been protesting against the NSC decision to reshuffle Nepal Amateur Athletics Association and Nepal Shitoryu Karate Association and to end contracts of more than 100 NSC staffers. “The latest decisions of the NSC are biased. He is ruining the environment within sports fraternity,” said Laxman Shrestha, general secretary of the confederation.
YAN and the confederation are planning to establish Youth Sports Association on the NSC premises and both the organizations appealed to NSC officials not to obstruct their program on Wednesday.
NSC calls meeting of national associations
Meanwhile, NSC called a meeting of different national sports associations to inform them about the ´threat´ that NSC Member Secretary Lama has accused UML and its sister organizations of issuing.
According to a press note issued by NSC on Tuesday, the representatives of the different national associations have condemned the threat against Lama.
Lama and UML leaders have been accusing each other of politicizing sports.
