KATHMANDU, June 16: The weekly Bagmati River Clean Up Mega Campaign and other cleanliness campaign launched at the local levels in the Kathmandu Valley continued this Saturday too. A total of 33 tons of garbage was collected from various Valley-based rivers including Bagmati and the ring road areas. Three tons of waste was collected from the Bagmati River area near the Shantinagar-based VS Niketan School under the 266th week of the Mega Campaign. 

Over 425 people including from the High-Powered Bagmati Civilisation Integrated Development Committee, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nyano Sparsha, Muktinath Development Bank, Reikui, Thakuri Society, and Osho Tapowan joined the campaign, one of the participants, Naryan Kumar Shrestha said. 

Likewise, under the 227th week of the Bagmati River Clean Up Mega Campaign above Guheshwori area, an area beneath the Bagmati River bridge at the border of Gokarneshwor Municipality-1 and Kageshwor Manohara Municipality-3 was cleaned. 

Ratopul-Rudranagar-Battisputali-Ram Mandir (temple) area under the Rudramati River Cleanliness Campaign, Siddeshwor-New Bus Park area under the 193rd Bishnumati River, 

Balaju Chowk-Banasthali, Sitapaila-Syuchatara area under the 62nd week of Ring Road area cleaning campaign, Aloknagar Area in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31 were cleaned with enthusiastic participation of people from various walks of life. 

People of Tilganga area were called on not to burn plastic bags and plastic items and briefed about its negative consequences on environment, as stated by programme coordinator Asha Pandey.RSS
