Vice-president of the National Sports Council (NSC) Sitaram Maskey and office-bearers of the Cricket Association Nepal bade a farewell to the 14-member team headed by Gyanendra Malla amidst a function at the NSC premises Sunday.
Four-time winner and the defending champion Nepal is pitted in Group ‘A’ along with Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia while Afghanistan, UAE, Qatar, Oman and Bhutan are in group ‘B’. Nepal will take on Saudi Arabia in its first match on April 22.
The top two teams from each group will advance into the semifinals. The winner and runnerup of the tournament will also qualify for the U-19 World Cup Qualifiers.
Roy Luke Dias is coach of the squad and Mahesh Rijal the assistant coach while Shailesh Kumar Chaudhary is the team manager.
