BIRATNAGAR, June 18: The prohibitory order issued by District Administration Office (DAO) Morang to prevent Youth Association cadres from organizing a show of strength against journalists was revoked on Saturday.

The administration had issued the order two days ago after the cadres of the association publicly vowed to counter the protest program announced by journalists through the display of force. [break]

The association chairman Mahesh Basnet had flown to Biratnagar to address the gathering. The administration had prohibited a gathering of more than five persons in the main bazaar area of the town.

"The prohibitory order has been taken back as the situation is now under our control," Chief District Officer (CDO) Suresh Adhikari said. With Basnet returning to Kathmandu on Friday, the security situation here has come to normalcy.

Meanwhile, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Morang, on Saturday held a rally protesting the police administration´s inaction in arresting Parshuram Basnet, the master mind of the attack on Republica scribe Khilanath Dhakal. Parshuram Basnet as been accused of ordering the attack on Dhakal for a news report about his gang´s involvement in attacking Abhishek Giri inside the premises of Morang District Court in Biratnagar.

Similarly, various district chapters of the FNJ organized protest programs on Saturday demanding the arrest of Parshuram.

Meanwhile, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) President Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar on Saturday said that the police administration´s inaction in arresting Basent has exposed the government´s helplessness.

Talking to journalists in Biratnagar, Gachchhadar asked, "What can people expect from this government when it can not even arrest a cadre of a ruling party involved in such a serious crime?" He also accused the government of not being serious about apprehending Basnet.
