Returning officers heading toward polling stations in Khotang (with video)

KHOTNAG, Nov 22: With federal parliamentary and provincial elections less than a week away returning officers are heading toward polling stations in the district.

Returning officers and assistant returning officers are heading toward polling stations along with 64 types of election materials including ballot boxes, ballot papers, ink, stamp pad, among others.

"We are deploying returning officers along with the election materials to the respective polling stations since last Monday to make the first round of elections slated for November 26 a success," District Election Officer Dinesh Khatri told Republica Online. 

According to district election office, most of the returning officers are heading toward Barahapokhari, Khotehang, Kapilasgadi and Aainselukharka rural municipalities with election materials from the district headquarters. A returning officer has already reached Jantedhunga Rural Municipality with election materials.

Some of the returning officers are moving by bus while some are traveling by tractor loaded with election materials for Halesi Tuwachung Municipality, Diprung Rural Municipality.

A huge number of election officers  are seen at the District Police Office, Khotang receiving election materials. Returning officers will reach the polling stations before November 24.

A total of 1,432 officers will be deployed in 136 polling stations and 179 polling centers in khotnag district.

As many as 10 staffers incluidng a returing and assistant returning officer are in each polling center.  A total of 125,183 voters will be participating in the first phase elections in Khotang district.
