Thapa Magar, who was joint second after the first round of the three-day tournament, shot a one-over on the front nine and two over at the turn for a total of two-over 146. Nagarkoti carded a three-over 72 and Rabi Khadka carded four over 76.
Overnight leader Purna Sharma slipped to fourth after a round of six-over 78. Nepal’s number one golfer Shiva Ram Shrestha and his brother Jaya Ram Shrestha are tied for eighth at 154.
A total of 21 pros and six amateurs are taking part in the three-day tournament. The third and final round will be held at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Friday. Out of the total prize money of Rs 200,000, the top three golfers will earn Rs 46,000, Rs 31,000 and Rs 23,000, respectively. Others in the top 15 will also get their share of the cash prize.
