Jones is scheduled to hold most of the high-level meetings – with the President, the Prime Minister, the Defense Minister and the army chief – on Wednesday.

The British Embassy has said the minister will tour various development projects undertaken by the Gurkha Welfare Trust and will meet Gurkha pensioners. "The minister is also visiting as part of the UK´s support for the peace process as well as to strengthen ties between the United Kingdom and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal."

Jones has arrived Nepal just two weeks after the British Minister for International Development, Mike Foster, completed his Nepal visit.
