3 recovered patients contract COVID-19 again (with video)

KATHMANDU, May 6: Three patients who had earlier recovered from the novel coronavirus have contracted the virus again.

KATHMANDU, May 6: Three patients who had earlier recovered from the novel coronavirus have contracted the virus again.  


Of the three, a 58-year-old man,  who was discharged on April 23, has contracted the virus again. The man who is residing at the Sun City Apartment, Pepsi Cola, was admitted to the Patan Hospital on Tuesday evening. 


Similarly, a 19-year-old male of Rautahat district and another 44-year-old male of Parsa district have been reinfected by the virus. They were discharged from the hospital earlier on April 26. They are now undergoing treatment at Birgunj-based Narayani Hospital.

With this, active cases for COVID-19 have climbed to 80. 


“We are carrying out additional tasks in this regard,” said Dr Bikash Devkota, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population during a regular press briefing on Wednesday. He, however, did not clarify about what his ministry is currently doing in terms of the three new reinfected patients. 


Meanwhile, the MoHP confirmed 17 new cases for the COVID-19 on Wednesday itself. All the patients belong to Birgunj of Parsa district. With this, total number of coronavirus cases in Nepal has reached 99. 


Owing to the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Nepal, the cabinet meeting earlier today extended the ongoing lockdown for another ten days-- until May 18.
