3 national records in athletics

KATHMANDU, July 12: Three national records were set in athletics on Sunday during National Time Trial competition organized by Nepal Athletics Association to evaluate progress made by players.

Surya Khatri set a new national record in men's high jump leaping 1.98 m at the Dasharath Stadium. Earlier, Bal Krishna Chaudhary held the record of 1.97 m under his belt.Similarly, Sima Kumari Tharu bettered her national record in javelin throw with a haul of 43 m, surpassing her previous mark of 39.46 m. In the women's discuss throw, Amrita Mahato set a new record of 39.82 m outdoing her previous record of 34.37 m.

All the players who set the national record on Sunday are currently under national team training. According to athletics chief coach Sushil Narshinga Rana, players will be sent abroad for training on the basis of their performance and improvement in the National Time Trial competition.
