3 held for illegal VoIP operation

POKHARA, Sept 13: Three people were arrested on Wednesday for illegal VoIP operation in Pokhara.



The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Shiva Bahadur Singh, 20, of Kaski, Tirtha Raj Dhakal, 22, of Gorkha and Keshav Gautam, 25, of Parvat on Wednesday. [break]



They were arrested from a rented house at Sangam Marga. Police had kept a close surveillance on the rented house for the last two months. The house belongs to Bal Bahadur Kunwar.



CBI along with a team of technology experts from Ncell had located the house after investigating for two days. Among the three, Singh and Dahal handled technical aspects while Gautam supplied SIM cards to them.



According to CBI, they confiscated a nine-port VoIP device, 11 Ncell SIM cards, a laptop, 13 bluetooth devices, three card readers, one inverter, two routers, recharge cards worth Rs 113,000 and Rs 110,400 in cash from them.



They were using a Standard Chartered Bank account for carrying out transactions and had deposited US$ 1,000 in the account.



The three arrested have been handed over to Kaski District Police Office for further investigation.
