"After reviewing the security condition of eastern Nepal, we have reached a conclusion that Taplejung, Saptari and Siraha are highly sensitive in view of November poll," said Shankar Prasad Adhikary, Regional Administrator of Eastern Development Region. [break]
These districts have been considered as highly sensitive because of the influence of underground armed outfits.
"We are holding discussions to implement special security plans in these districts," said Adhikary. He further said that the district security committee will prepare the strategies for the special security plans.
Likewise, the security agencies have said that Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Dhankuta, Paanchthar, Ilam, Tehrathum and Sankhuwasabha are also considered as sensitive districts for holding poll.
The Federal Limbuwan State Council (FLSU) has sent a formal letter to the parties of the nine eastern districts across the Arun River not to file candidacies. The threatening letter, signed by the chairman of FLSU, warns the political parties saying, "They would be attacked if they recommend their names of candidates." The Council has informed that they have deployed 50,000 cadres to foil the election process.
