According to Krishna Sitaula, the chief of Publicity Department of the 12th General Convention, these will include 12 representatives each from all 240 electoral constituencies, 98 representatives from sister and well-wisher organizations and 54 representatives from the party´s Central Working Committee. NC has made a provision that its liaison committees abroad having over 500 active members can send seven representatives to the general convention. However liaison committees with less than 500 active members can send observers only.
Sitaula said seven representatives each from party´s liaison committees in the UK, Qatar, Belgium and Malaysia will take part in the convention.
Organizing a press conference at the party´s headquarters in Sanepa on Saturday, Sitaula said almost all preparations for the party´s upcoming convention have been completed. The Publicity Department has expedited publicity campaign with the message "Peace, prosperity and democratic constitution: Campaign of Nepali Congress".
Sitaula said the convention will be inaugurated at the open air theater, Tundikhel on September 1 and closed-session of the convention will be held at Exhibition Hall, Bhrikuti Mandap. “We expect to gather over 500,000 people at the inauguration of the convention,” he said.
NC distributed a total of 312,483 active membership across the country this year. The party distributed additional 5,000 active membership to its members living abroad. The NC had a total 179,913 active members in the 11th general convention.
