RASUWA, Nov 1: Documents related to the first installment of housing grants for earthquake victims have gone missing from the District Coordination Committee, Rasuwa.

This has deprived eight families of Kalika Rural Municipality-3 of getting the first installment of housing grant. The details of these victims in one of the worst-affected districts were collected in March.

Concerned officials publicly admitted about the missing files during a function organized by National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) and DCC on Sunday.

Speaking at the program, Pushparaj Neupane, chairperson of Kalika Rural Municipality-3, questioned, “If the files recommended in March have gone missing, where are the files submitted later?” As the responsible authorities took no efforts to find the missing files even after three months, another file with full details was submitted but still, the process has not been forwarded, laments Bishwash Nepali, one of the earthquake victims.

When asked about the missing files, the local development officer of the district, chairperson of NRA and the DCC chief of Rasuwa said they were unaware of the whole issue.
“We knew nothing about this. But since this issue has come to our notice, we will investigate and take necessary steps,” said Kul Prasad Bhatta, chairperson of DCC.
After hearing the grievances of the victims, the District Administration Office (DAO) has asked for complete details of the missing files with the responsible authorities.

“We have instructed the DCC and NRA to submit full details of the quake victims whose files are missing till,” said Hiradevi Poudel, chief district officer of Rasuwa, adding, “We will have to take action against them if they fail to submit the files or details within the given deadline.”

It has been learned that the engineers handed over the files to the Building Division Office and were later transferred to the DCC.  But currently, those files are not available at the DCC.
