The festival is being organized with the objective of promoting Gorkha district as one of the major tourist destinations, reads a press statement issued on Monday.
During the inauguration ceremony, Murari Karki of MoTCA, Neil Brosce - deputy country director of DFID, Lakhpa Dhondup Sherpa - chairman of Nubri Culture and Youth Promotion Committee, Hans Heijdra-country director of SNV in Nepal and Paul Stevens - tourism team leader of SNV jointly launched the Great Himalayan Trail Development Programme (GHTDP) at the local level.
GHTDP will work with Nubri Culture and Youth Promotion Committee to promote tourism in the district.
The festival will showcase culture and heritage of the district through various ritualistic celebrations, traditional dances, horse races, archery competition and other cultural programmes, the statement added.
The organizers are expecting more than 2,000 domestic and foreign tourists to visit the event. The festival is being organized by Nubri Culture and Youth Promotion Committee.
