ANFA has signed the contract with Roberts, the former Chelsea and Tottenham player, for about three months which will end after the completion of Challenge Cup.
"We are quite impressed with his working style," said Thapa. "Therefore, we might assign him the coaching responsibility of U-16 and U-19 teams as well," Thapa told Republica.
"I am interested in looking after the Nepali team for a longer period of time and ANFA President Thapa had talked with me regarding the issue a week earlier,” Roberts said, adding, “However, I am focusing in the upcoming Challenge Cup now and the results carry a vital role in my contract extension."
"My agent will arrive in Nepal during the Cup and will discuss the issue with ANFA after completion of the tournament."
Nepal are competing in the World Cup qualifiers, SAFF Championship as well as AFC U-16 and U-19 qualifiers later this year.
Nepal´s national team will face East Timor in the first round matches of the World Cup qualifiers in late June and early July. Nepal will also compete in the SAFF Championship in the winter. Likewise, the U-16 team and U-19 teams will compete in the group stage matches of the AFC qualifiers in September and October respectively.
Thapa has hinted that Roberts would be given charge of age group team as well as senior team for the upcoming tournaments including that of ANFA Academy.
"First I should be cleared regarding the structure of teams I need to look after. Only then will I decide my future in Nepal."
