“NOC has been suffering loss of millions of rupees. The government must take action against the officials who are responsible for issuing permission to import petroleum products from Barauni," Gyaneshwore Aryal, president of Gas Dealers´ Association, said.
NOC had started importing petroleum products from Barauni, citing difficulties in delivery from Raxual. Compared to Raxaul, cost for importing petroleum products from Barauni is higher by Rs 1.13 per liter. It has also been revealed that tanker operators were bleeding the NOC dry by delivering lesser amount of fuel (250 liters less) than the required quantity.
However, NOC has been failing to take against the perpetrators due to pressure from the Petroleum Tanker Operators´ Federation.
Aryal also suggested the government to set up storage plant for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the capital to ensure smooth supplies of the cooking fuel to the consumers.
Jyoti Baniya, general secretary of Consumers´ Rights Protection Forum, complained that LPG dealers were charging equal price for the cooking gas in Tarai and Kathmandu despite lower transportation cost in Tarai.
