21 including principal punished for irregularities in SLC

KATHMANDU, March 27: The third day of School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exams was also not free from irregularities.



In Sunsari, 11 people including a school principal were arrested on Sunday for either cheating or assisting students to cheat, according to our correspondent in Itahari. [break]



Bidur Bhattarai, the principal of Mahendra Secondary School, Bharaul, was arrested for encouraging students to cheat. Along with him, Laxmi Gurung, a teacher, and one Dipak Karki were arrested on same charges.



Superintendent of Police Bhupal Kumar Bhandari said the three were arrested for engaging in an argument with police, who tried to prevent students from cheating.



In Khanar, police arrested one Suresh Chaudhary for assisting students to cheat. At an examination center in Bhaluwa, police arrested Nabin Gachchhadar for the same. Police have lodged public offence cases against the two.



Police also arrested two fake student students, while four exam guards found assisting students to cheat were expelled.



Meanwhile, in Saptari, three fake students and three fake invigilators assisting cheating were arrested on Sunday.



Similarly, in Taplejung, two students sitting for exams at an examination center in Phungling, were expelled for engaging in unethical practice.
