KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Government has urged protesting doctors to withdraw their protest of shutting all health institutions across the country.
The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has been protesting over the Cabinet decision that binds the concerned doctor to pay compensation amount in case of 'negligible death'. It has shut down all medical services except for emergency for the past four days.
An emergency cabinet meeting held on Monday to discuss the demands of the NMA, voiced its concern about the shutdown, and it agreed to address their demands including security of doctors, and health workers from the next cabinet meeting, said the government's Spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communication Mohan Bahadur Basnet.
"The cabinet meeting will be held after arrival of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deubafrom attending the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly and their demands will be addressed from it," he said.
