Maoist, UML leaders discuss on expediting peace process

KATHMANDU, March 20: Leaders from major ruling coalition partners CPN (UML) and UCPN (Maoist) held talks in connection of expediting the ongoing peace process, statute drafting and cabinet expansion.



The leaders involved in the bilateral talks said they emphasized on the need of focusing on the peace process. [break]



"The peace process has become too slow. Therefore we discussed about how to expedite it," UML leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal told reporters after the meeting that took place at UML´s parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar on Sunday.



Maoist Vice-Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha said they agreed to come up with a concrete decision in the next round of meeting in connection of expediting statute writing and peace process and giving the cabinet a full shape.



Former Prime Minister Nepal, who heads the UML´s talks team, Bamdev Gautam and Ishwar Pokharel from the UML and Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Shrestha and Ram Bahadur Thapa from the Maoist party participated in the meeting.
