Gurung entered the field of social work through SFA and has started a foot ball club Sahara UK FC in England to help the SFA project. He is also the president of the Sahara UK.[break]
Gurung, currently residing in the United Kingdom, recently established Pokhara Academy for Children Trust (PACT) to pursue his dreams. Gurung and his allies started PACT after many foreigners mistook Sahara for an Indian business group or thought of it as a middle-east institution.
"PACT is established to help poor children of the region through football," said Gurung, who believes that Nepalis staying abroad can do a lot for Nepal.
Gurung and Sahara UK have already donated few million rupees to Sahara and now they are determined to complete the construction of SFA building and football ground at Dobilla, Pokhara.
"If every Non Resident Nepali (NRN) supports his birth place, we can develop the country," said Gurung taking to Republica. "The Non Resident Indians (NRI) had changed the course of development in India and we can learn a lesson from them," he added.
Gurung has courted support from his friends from Norway, Italy and England to help him in the PACT.
Muchhendra Gurung and Dilip Gurung, the UK based NRNs, are other active partners within Sahara UK and PACT while Gunar Stremsholm from Norway, Rita Homer and Flora Watson from UK and Agata Man from Italy are also supporting Nabin in his initiatives.
"PACT is supported by both Nepalis and foreigners. The trust has already sent Rs 1.6 million for buying land and constructing SFA building. We are hopeful that the academy will have its own building in nine months," said Gurung.
