Grand welcome for Prez Yadav in Qatar

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav reached Kuwait Friday morning at the invitation of the emir of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.



According to Foreign Secretary Madan Kumar Bhattarai, who is accompanying the president in the visit, President Dr Yadav was accorded a grand ceremonial welcome by the emir at the VVIP lounge at the Amiri Terminal. [break]The president and the delegation are staying at the Bayan Palace.



Australian Governor-General Quentin Alice Bryce AC called on President Dr Yadav at the Bayan Palace Friday afternoon. During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged ideas on bilateral relations and ways and means of further developing these ties for mutual interest.



Senior government officials accompanying President Dr Yadav and Nepal´s ambassador to Kuwait Madhuban Prasad Paudel were present at the meeting.



President Dr Yadav reached Kuwait to take part in a special ceremony organized to mark the 50th National Day and 20th Independence Day of the Gulf kingdom Saturday.



The emir had sent a special aircraft KAC 093 to Kathmandu to take Yadav to Kuwait. He will fly back home on Sunday. He is one among 52 heads of state taking part in Kuwaiti National Day celebrations.



The 11-member delegation of President Dr Yadav includes his daughter Anita, secretary at the president´s office Baman Prasad Neupane, Foreign Secretary Bhattarai and Protocol Chief at the ministry Mukti Nath Bhatta, among others. President Yadav will fly back home on Sunday.
