The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has said that the FM´s visit is for “preparation” for Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal´s upcoming trip to China at the end of April. However, the date for the PM´s visit has not yet been fixed. "The exact date for the visit has not been decided. The FM´s visit may set the date," said Om Sharma, the press advisor to the PM.

In addition, it is said that the foreign minister will also discuss the possibility of signing a new Peace and Friendship Treaty as proposed by China during Chinese Assistant Minister Hu Zhengyue’ visit to Nepal. "It’s possible that the treaty may be discussed during the foreign minister´s visit," Sharma added. The treaty was meant to replace the Nepal-China Treaty signed in 1960.

The foreign minister is also scheduled to attend the Conference on Control of Crime against Human Trafficking, to be held in Bali, Indonesia, from April 14-15. He will return on April 17.
