Speaking at the orientation program of the party, Dahal said, “Our party made a sacrificed to form the government for the sake of peace and constitution. But, reactionary forces are hell-bent in making the government a failure.”[break]
Political parties, including Nepali Congress and a section of the UML, have been demanding that the deal be scrapped.
“The decision of UML central committee would not be our concern. The deal had been made with Khanal and he is committed to it. We will join the government on the basis of the agreement,” a source quoted Dahal as saying.
Dahal said the party would launch a revolt if the statute is not promulgated by May 28. Maoist Vice-chairman Mohan Baidhya said a revolution can succeed only through a revolt.
Likewise, Vice-chairman Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai said he would abide by the party´s decision though he had written a note of dissent.
Meanwhile, Dahal said the government would cease to exist if the seven-point deal was amended. He, however, expressed hope that the upcoming UML CC meet will end on a positive note.
“All political parties should respect the deal that was inked for peace and constitution. We will try our best to continue our support to the government,” he said.
