KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Electricity supply to Biratnagar, Anarmani, Duhabi and other cities east of Biratnagar has been disrupted as the Duhabi-based 132 KVA substation has been inundated by floods, cutting off import of electricity from India. Incessant rain for the last two days caused the folds, said a press notice issued by Nepal Electricity Authority.

Likewise, few pylon towers of the transmission line of Anarmani Kabeli 132 KVA have collapsed and the supply from independent power producers in the eastern hills has been cut off, forcing the people in the region to live in darkness since Friday night.

Likewise, there were brief disturbances in electricity supply via the Khimti-Dhalkebar Transmission Line and the Hetauda-Chapur-Dhalkebar Transmission Line but the supply was restored within a few hours on Saturday, according to Bishnu Prasad Shrestha, chief of Load Dispatch Center, Nepal Electricity Authority.

“Attempts at restoring the electricity supply are on and we may be able to resume the supply on Sunday,” added Shrestha.
