250 households at flood risk in Udayapur

UDAYAPUR, August 5: Some 250 households at Hadiya VDC-4 in the district are at risk after local Bhuduli River swept away the embankment, said local Ram Bahdur Danuwar.



Though it was frequently reported to the VDC and DDC office, no action has been taken yet, said local Jit Bahdur Rai. People are living in constant fear of their houses being swept away by landslide. [break]



They cannot even sleep well at night due to the fear of flood in the area since long, said Durga Danuwar.



Hundreds bighas of land has been swept away by the flooded river in the area but no preventive measures have been carried out by the government side, locals complained.



The embankment was constructed nearly 31 years back and is almost in a dilapidated condition.
