A committee led by administrative officer Binod Koirala has pasted a 35-day notice at the houses of 115 people whose advances remain settled but none of them turned up to pay back the borrowed money.
According to the Local Self Governance Act, advance amounts need to be returned within a period of 35 days, but Koirala has accounts that haven’t been settled for 25 years.
Among those on Koirala’s list are former ward chairmen of various wards of the sub-metropolis, including Chandrashekhar Dhadewa of Ward No. 9 who has an unsettled amount of Rs 260,676, Ganesh Bahadur Kshetri Khadka of Ward No. 15 whose unsettled amount is Rs 310,775, Ramesh Kumar Ghimire (Rs 732,500), Deepak Koirala of Ward No. 10 (Rs 631,927) and Mukesh Thapa of Ward No. 4 (Rs 631,927).
