KATHMANDU, April 18: A report of the Office of Auditor General (OAG) reveals that the unsettled accounts at the Ministry of Health (MoH) amount to Rs 2.64 billion.
The annual audit report of the OAG on the government budget and expenditure was recently published, revealing the massive misuse of government funds in 2074 BS (2017/18).
Over Rs 16 billion unsettled at TU since 1977
The preliminary report of the OAG had shown that the unsettled accounts at the MoH amounted to Rs 2.69 billion. After the preliminary report provided to the MoH, the ministry recovered Rs 48.9 million. The health ministry has a total of Rs 2.64 billion arrears now, according to the OAG report. Out of the unaudited budget, Rs 1.19 billion was issued as advance budget.
The OAG also audited the books of 124 organized institutions, committees and other organizations under the ministry. After the preliminary report forwarded to these organizations, 14 organizations recovered Rs 64.6 million. A total of Rs 3.70 billion is now unsettled in these organizations, says the OAG report.
