24 top cops transferred

KATHMANDU, June 18: The government on Monday transferred high-ranking Nepal Police officers including five Additional Inspector Generals (AIGs). The remaining transferred officials are Deputy Inspector General (DIGs).



A cabinet meeting decided on the transfers before Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai left for Brazil. [break]The main highlight of the transfer was replacement of AIG Kuber Singh Rana by AIG Nawaraj Dhakal at the Metropolitan Police Commissinor´s Office (MPCO). Rana, who is first in line to succeed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rabindra Pratap Shah in a few months was transferred to Operations Department.



AIG Bhisma Prasai was transferred to the Administration Department, Prakash Kunwar to Nepal Police Academy and Kiran Gautam to the Human Resources Department.



The transfer of DIGs was massive. Surendra Shah was sent to the Central Investigation Bureau, Upendra Kanta Aryal to Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, Parashu Ram Khatri to Eastern Region, Rajendra Singh Bhandari to Trainning Directorate, Yadav Adhikari to Central Region, Ramesh Shekhar Bajracharya to Western Region, Sushil Bar Singh Thapa to Far Western Region, Birendra Babu Shrestha to Tribhuvan International Airport, Narayan Bastakoti to Anti Terrorist Cell, Keshav Adhikari to Metro-2, Gopal Bhandari to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority and Keshar Bahadur Shahi to Mid Western Region.



Likewise, Bigyan Raj Sharma and Tapendra Hamal were transferred to Procurement Section and the Narcotic Drugs Control Law Enforcement Unit (NDCLEU) respectively.
