Captain Sabin Basnet and technician Purna Awale were confirmed dead in the incident. The helicopter was on a flight to rescue a Japanese climber who fell ill at the basecamp.
The chopper flown from Lukla for the rescue operation at 8:30am went out of contact after 9:00am, according to Bikas Rana of Fishtail Air.
Yeti Airlines escapes disaster
Meanwhile, RSS reported that a plane belonging to the Yeti Airlines bound to Pokhara from Kathmandu, carrying 30 passengers had a narrow escape from disaster.
Tires in both front wheels punctured on the runway in Pokhara airport.
Due to captain´s deftness, the plane had safe landing. Nobody onboard got any injury.
Air service in Pokhara airport has been halted following the incident.
The punctured tires are being changed and new one fitted now, it is learnt.
