KATHMANDU, Oct 13: Rescuers have recovered the body of one of the four climbers who went missing on the slopes of Mt Dhaulagiri on September 28 when a massive avalanche struck the 8,167-meter mountain.

Cosmo Trek, the local organizer of the tragedy-struck expedition, said the body of Daisuke Honda, 32, was found Tuesday evening by rescuers who resumed ground search on Sunday after halting search last week.

However, the bodies of Osamu Tanabe, 49, Toshio Yamamoto, 36, and their guide Pasang Gelu Sherpa, 47, remain missing, according to Bijay Sharma of the trekking agency.

The search operation is being carried out by three Japanese professional guides, among which two are survivors of the expedition.

Five Nepali Sherpas are accompanying them. The search will end on Thursday.
