23 small parties say no to CJ-led govt; warn protests

KATHMANDU, March 13: The 23 small parties representing now dissolved Constituent Assembly have expressed the deep concern over the ongoing parleys among the four major political parties to form the chief justice-led (CJ) interim government.



A meeting of the small parties held at New Baneshwor on Wednesday also decided to protest the big parties’ proposal. [break]“We will ask the president not to endorse the chief justice-led government,” CPN-Maoist Secretary Dev Gurung said after the meeting.



The small parties warned to unveil series of protest programs after holding discussion among them if the big parties move ahead ignoring their demand.



The small parties have been demanding that the prime ministerial candidate should be picked from among the political parties rather than opt for the CJ. The big four parties faced a severe criticisms from the small parties over the issue in the all-party meeting yesterday.
